"Safe Haven: stories from a Dutch school" is the title of the short documentary I am making about children from conflict and war areas being taught at a Dutch school.

The Dragon-Helicopter,
as part of my practice led-Phd I am making a short documentary about how teachers at a Dutch school experience teaching refugee children. Yesterday I learned from one of the teachers how children re-live their war experiences during play-time in class.
A pupil used toy figures, just like this one in the picture, to role-play a situation where the dragon represents a helicopter, sent by the evil witch to attack his home town.
I wonder how teachers feel seeing this in their class - and then watch the news in the evening. Perhaps an online exhibit of toys, drawings and other objects representing conflict experiences of refugees in the dutch class room a is a good idea?

We are delighted that our documentary '5 to 12' screened at the Films by the Sea festival in 2016:)

This summer we managed to get an appointment with Sinterklaas in his Madrid residence to talk about Black Piet.

Sinterklaas is not feeling so well: Piet or no Piet?

The problem with Zwarte Piet (or Black Piet):

What are Saint Nicolas and Piet doing during the summer?

Dutch Santa Claus, or Sinterklaas, arrived in Dordrecht on November 15, 2014 with his man servant Black Pete - Zwarte Piet.

In July 2014 we went back to the Dr. Jose Fabella maternity hospital to find out if the passing of the RH bill has resulted in any noticable improvements. Watch our update here:
